People of the Global Majority

"People of the Global Majority" (PGM) is used interchangeably with "black, indigenous, and people of color" (BIPOC), since black, indigenous, and people of color represent over 80% of the world’s population. This wording points out the demographic inaccuracy of the euphemism "minority" and can feel more empowering for some people. PGM is super-inclusive of all non-white people around the world. It does not center on the North American experience. The term ‘people of the global majority’ makes space for multi-faceted, pluralistic narratives of the fight against racial oppression by non-white people around the world. It enables global solidarity against white supremacy without cultural erasure.
