A Wankel engine, also known as a rotary engine, is a type of internal combustion engine that is frequently associated with Mazda's RX line of vehicles. It operates on a unique rotary design, utilizing a triangular rotor that rotates within a housing, rather than the conventional piston-cylinder arrangement found in most engines. This engine is well known for revving at high RPMs, having terrible fuel economy, and spontaneously blowing up.
