A movement (or sub-movement) within the modern progressive metal community combining the downtuned, rhythmically complex "djent" guitar sound popularized by Meshuggah with lush, atmospheric soundscapes characteristic of ambient music. TesseracT is a great example.
Man, metal's really splitting into a lot of unnecessary subgenres these days-- I mean, ambidjent? It's getting ridiculous.
