The person in a relationship that gets too serious too soon, or is or becomes incredibly annoying.

"Hey so what happened with you and that girl?"

"Oh she's gone, she was definitely a Mary."

or

"How's things going with that new guy?"

"I don't know I like him but I think I might have a Mary on my hands"
