IN BRIEF: An act of not being able to help yourself/fight your own battles and having other people to help you/fight your battles for you, especially if you brought the problem on yourself.
Some people may be wondering why anybody would yell "mayday" in the first place when they are in trouble. Here is why: It means "help me."
