1. a heterosexual female possessing those traits and characteristics which are condusive to a heterosexual male's ideal of a committed, romantic companion

2. the precursor to a keeper

Jane is attractive, sane, and fun to be with. Jane is definite girlfriend material. Diane is not attractive, in therapy for her self-loathing, man-hating issues, and a total drag to be around. Diane is not girlfriend material.
