“Cheburnet” is an unofficial term used to describe the concept of a sovereign Internet in Russia. The term combines the name of the popular Soviet character Cheburashka and the word “Internet,” alluding to the localization and isolation of the Russian segment of the network from the global network.

It's time to recognize: the sovereign internet, cheburnet, or whatever you want to call the law-abiding segment of the internet, has happened.
