The step before dating and a way to be in a relationship without being committed.

To “ vibe” is to be in a not-committed form of relationship.

John: Why is that guy talking to your girl? I thought you were dating?

Chris : Nah, we just vibing. Don’t want a serious relationship, so i’ll giver her a relationship without commitment.
