"After Whites, Armageddon" is a common trope in science fiction stories. Good guys dressed in light colors come to save the day. They leave, and villains in black costumes come and screw things up. Happens all the time.

Figurative complaint about someone's unwillingness to confront a problem of the day, by instead letting someone else handle it later. By that time the problem will be worse.
