To spend a shit load of money pimping out a car, house, boat, etc. way past the point that your could recoup the cash if you suddenly had to sell the thing.

Ricky shelled out 200K on his place- in-ground pool, hardwood floors, patterned concrete everywhere outside. Man, that place is seriously overimproved and he just got laid off and now he has to sell it. He's screwed, man.
