Common name for Metairie, LA in the local slang. Thought of as a safe place when compared to neighboring New Orleans. Although if you really try, getting shot is also possible in "Metry."

Similar to a shindig, a "shimdig" is a party of transender individuals.

Q: Is that a group of girls or boys down there partying?

A: Both, it's a shimdig.
