Bertuğ

Resolute, surmounting and diligent.

Bertuğ was used as an adjective back in old Turkic tribes. When nomadic Turks would travel and set camps (or settle temporarily), they needed a person to lead who could overcome any difficulty despite the rapid changes in their lives; so they would choose a Bertuğ. In time, the word became a responsibility and a title as in Bertuğ Bey (Mister Bertuğ). The word is mostly seen in Turkic epics. In modern Turkish, it is used as a proper name.
