An initialism for "African American English", also called AAVE, or Black English, and Black Vernacular English.
Formerly known outside of the academic and sociolinguistic setting as "Ebonics" (a term since co-opted by racist movements), AAE is a pidgin dialect inspired by West African linguistics among other linguistic phenomena, or "language stuff".
