The act of sending a url to a friend who has previously seen the site that was originally sent.

The result of a linkflop is marked by shame for the sender who feels as if they've sent an outdated piece of news or popular culture. This in turn makes them feel out of date and not relevant in society.

The word "linkflop" is generally used as a response to the sender to profess their ignorance and out of date interests.
While on the internet Bob saw a video of the cutest kitten in the world. He sent it to his mother because he was certain she would love watching it. She had already viewed the clip prior to his sending, so she responded with in jest with "linkflop" to imply she was more up-to-date than her son.
