pandemic puppy

A young dog that has been purchased after the start of the pandemic. The pandemic puppy's main function is to provide some sort of company to a person that feels socially isolated.

- Oh, there goes Jake with a dog. I didn't know Jake was a dog person.
- He is not, that is a pandemic puppy

- I hear that Rhodesian ridgebacks make a terrible pandemic puppy
