Though formally used in a negative context, in the 90s it came to be used as synonymous with famous along with the connotation of an awe-inspring figurehead. Similar to , “He’s soooo bad” meaning “he’s such a cool awe-inspiring guy.”

That brother is so OG and cool, he’s practically infamous.
