Tom means trying to act cool before a date. When the moment is there to show up you just walk past the person while ignore him/her/them.

Friend: Hey, how was your date.
Me :the guy pulled a tom on me ... :(
Friend: aww what an asshole! He didn't even say hello when you approach him?
Me: No, he just walked away...
