Logger's Mar

A 'flapper' that is typically accompanied by a blister and callous separate to the flapper, and ordinarily measures a third an inch, a half-inch, to an inch wide; it is named for its location on the inside of the bridge of the thumb, facing the palm, which slides down the handle of an axe and said handled can rip the skin off the bridge of the thumb when said axe is handled barehanded.
After fourty-five minutes of rough lumberjacking, Robert had sported a tiny flapper on his left hand, and a broad, ugly logger's mar on his right—which hurt when he handled any object with anything except the very ends of his fingers.

Runner's Pride

Small horse-shoe shaped marking of raw skin over the wrist bone on the inside of the wrist and forearm.

Historically thought to be from the wristbone rubbing against skin like a sharp tent pole, it is formed from sweat that settles back onto skin and crystallizes over the hump shape—occurs primarily on the hip bone, forearm, wrist, and occasionally on the hill of skin on the thumbknuckle.
Tommy gained a runner's pride after two hours of semi-daily running, which filled him with great joy and proudness as he inspected his wrist in the mirror.
