BayFlay, alternatively BaFla, is a portmanteau for "Bay Area Flakiness" or "Bay Area Flaking". It refers to the prevalence of flaking (not showing up, cancelling at the last minute), especially on dates, which is rampant in the San Francisco Bay Area in the age of dating apps and online meet-ups. It was coined by Bryan Lopuck at Quizlet and its usage in the Bay Area has spread.
