Used in Northern England, meaning unfair, inappropriate, not right.
Sometimes also used as a term of embarrassment.

Watching someone get picked on and feeling bad, "That's so shan!"

Falling over and having the piss taken out of you, "What a shan that was!" - "I'm really shanning now!"
