Eisegetical pareidolia
The psychological and cognitive bias of projecting a desired meaning, personal agenda, or specific worldview onto random, ambiguous, or neutral data. It occurs when a person does not just see a random pattern in noise (pareidolia), but specifically interprets that pattern as a profound confirmation of their pre-existing beliefs or biases (eisegesis).
Person A: "Did you see that viral video? They found a boat-shaped rock formation in Turkey and the radar scans look exactly like rooms! Noah’s Ark is 100% confirmed!"
Person B: "Dude, relax. Prominent geologists proved decades ago that it's just a natural volcanic ridge. You're suffering from a severe case of eisegetical pareidolia."
