half-smoke

A somewhat spicy smoked sausage, usually made of pork and beef. A half-smoke is spicier and slightly larger than a hot dog (frankfurter, weiner) and usually is eaten in a hot dog bun. Found in and around Washington, DC.

Ben's Chili Bowl in Washington, DC, is the place to go for half-smokes with chili.
