When a person who doesn’t encounter discrimination pretends they are being oppressed because they wish they could tell a personal story about overcoming oppression

Victim Envy 

When a member of a group that has historically oppressed others sees the general public having empathy for oppressed people, they become jealous of that attention and they engage in mental gymnastics so that they can see themselves as some type of victim

People like to pretend there’s a war on Christmas because they have victim envy
