Gravipause

The acute 0.8-second neuro-physiological rupture that occurs when a running jump is aborted by a missed final foothold. Characterized by proprioceptive shock (muscles contracting against empty air), vestibular lurch (stomach floating upward), and the sudden perception of gravity as an aggressive, personal assailant rather than a passive physical law.
