Zinc Rot 

The pits and holes that develop in the surface of a copper plated zinc 1 cent coin. Once the zinc core of a cent is exposed to the elements is starts to break down or rot. These holes are sometimes thought to be an error in the minting process, but it just damage.
That penny you're trying to sell on eBay isn't an error, it's just covered in Zinc Rot!
