McLachlan-ism is the faux-medical term used for individuals that immediately think of animals being abused when they hear "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan.

Guy 1: I was listening to the radio the other day and heard that Sarah McLachlan song and I started wondering why people would ever abuse an animal!

Guy 2: You totally have McLachlan-ism, don't you?

Maupin Syndrome 

Taken from Armistead Maupin, author of tales of the city. Generally used to describe someone that's lived in a specific large city and believes that they know everything or are an expert of everything based on their life experiences.

John says that he's lived here in San Francisco for 10 years and apparently knows everything there needs to know. About everything. Someone needs to diagnose him with Maupin Syndrome!
