Getting stung by a fly means confusing others in a way that they forget what they were meant to do.
(It is something that I made up)

Person A: "Did you understand what __ meant in their presentation?"
Person B: "No. Probably they tried getting stung by a fly."

Burning The Water 

1) When someone is terrible at something and they can't even do the simplest thing related.
2) When you ruined something that easy to do/understand.

1) "I heard Ori's father is terrible at cooking. He is literally burning the water."
2) "I almost burnt the water when trying to make my presentation!"
