Wash a dish

To stop doing something, suddenly and without thinking. The purpose of which is to distract ones self from the current happening.

Girlfriend: Hey, hunney. Why did you take so long at the office last night?
Boyfriend: I, was.......you know, talking with bob.
Girlfriend: Bob was here last night looking for you.
Boyfriend: You know what, go wash a dish!
