Darsh Mahoo

A golf shot that results in negative progress toward the hole.

Usually caused by:

• Tree rebounds
• Putt that roles back
• Steep sand bunker shot that roles back
• The golf gods personally intervening

The term was coined by the not-so legendary golfer Cody Fish, who hit a beautiful 5 iron into a tree so hard the ball rolled back past him. Witnesses report that upon impact he shouted “Darsh!” and when the ball rolled back past his feet, he quietly added “…Mahoo.”

In advanced analytics, a Darsh Mahoo is recorded as –X yards gained.
