baitquip (noun)
A playful, cheeky remark that initially sounds serious, threatening, or shocking, but unexpectedly turns harmless, silly, or funny.
Example:

She told her husband, “I cheated on you.” He panicked—until she admitted she’d watched their show without him. Classic baitquip. 😂
