When tight fitting socks start to hurt and leave pressure marks around the lower legs,this is referred to as "sock bite".Gym socks that hurt because the elastic part has started to squeeze into the skin.

Avoid wearing socks that are too tightly fitting and you will not get "sock bite".or "Dude these socks are way too tight,You don't suppose they caused "sock bite"?
