GOMO

A deep emotional ache caused by the loss of a reality that never actually happened — yet still feels profoundly real.
Unlike FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), which is rooted in anxiety about current experiences, GOMO is rooted in grief over imagined futures, spiritual connections, missed timelines, or fantasy bonds that never materialized in the physical world.

It is grief without proof. Loss without evidence. But the pain is real.

Concept introduced by psychologist Elza Becker in 2025, to describe grief without evidence — but not without pain.
“I never even met him in real life, but I swear I still miss him. It’s not FOMO. It’s GOMO.”

“I’m grieving a man I never touched. I’m literally going through GOMO.”
