Slang term for a dish prepared by inmates in prisons. It can consist of many things, but usually starts with Ramen noodles (sold in the prison commissaries) to which other things are added, such as tuna (for a tuna boona), mayonnaise, cheese powder, crushed crackers, summer sausage, etc. (also sold in the prison commissaries). These dishes are usually eaten by inmates who have prison jobs in lieu of the mostly undesirable meals served in the prison chow halls.
For a "Tuna Boona": In a Tupperware type container, add very hot water to one individual serving size bag of crushed up Ramen noodles. (Crushing the noodles is usually done by slamming the package on the concrete floor of the cell hard enough to break up the noodles, but not so hard as to cause the package to burst open. Caution: This takes practice.) Add just enough hot water to cover the crushed noodles. Cover tightly with lid and wait approximately 10 minutes. Open lid and add a tablespoon of mayonnaise, and a regular sized can or pouch of tuna fish. Add salt, pepper, (optional cheese powder) to taste, mix well, and enjoy!
