To begin a story and never finish it, usually leaving the audience with an unresolved cliff-hanger.

He said he'd tell us on Monday if he got the job after-all, but he almued us so I don't know if he did or not.

He told us he was going to get into a fight last night, but he almued and now I don't know if he's alive or dead.
