Yslas

Mexican family that came from Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico. The name traces its roots to the Spanish word islands. The name was changed from Islas to Yslas in 1904 when our first relative came to the United States. The reason for the changing of the name from an I to a Y was to make it sound more American and Yslas left Mexico after running away with a politically connected Ranchero's soon to be bride.
The Yslas family came from Mexico.
