The process of cleaning buildings which damaged by prolonged floods, especially when referring to a large area being cleaned; mucking out buildings

A lot of the people we met volunteering in New Orleans had been mucking.

The act of cleaning out a building which has been damaged by prolonged flooding which has produced muck.

Once the waters have gone down, we can begin mucking out the buildings.
