A situation where the participant is in a losing position and cannot do anything in their power to change the outcome. Can be categorized as misfortune.

Guy 1: “Damn, I just put a band on this finals series and they’re saying Kevin Durant won’t play”

Guy 2: “That’s focus, I hope you picked up some extra hours at work”
