A person who, upon seeing someone they wish to avoid at the grocery store or other public place, pretends to engage in important discussion on the telephone as to evade conversation or awkward small talk with unliked said person.
Mom: "I saw your old math teacher at the mall today, Johnny. Remember Mr. B, the one that accused you of cheating?"
Johnny: "Oh really Mom?"
Mom: "Yes. I was going to say hello to him but he looked like he pulled out his cell phone to avoid me. What a fauxphoner."
