A stage, screen or television actor who overacts. An untalented actor who acts as if he or she is a great one.

Comic Jack Benny played the consummate ham, as Polish actor, Josef Tura, in the classic, 1942, Ernst Lubitch comedy film, "To Be or Not to Be," remade by Mel Brooks in 1983.
