Peripheral Horror

The specific feeling of being unable to verify whether something potentially threatening exists outside your current field of perception.

“I kept checking the corner of the room because the peripheral horror was getting to me.”

The fear or intense discomfort caused by an unresolved question, especially when the answer could potentially affect something you value.

“I know there's probably nothing behind me, but I can't prove it, and my non-solutumphobia is going insane.”
