Children's alarm call when one child catches another engaging in questionable behaviour such as petty theft, urinating in the street, defacing walls with crayon or starting fires. From the Highlands of Scotland.

Child 1: Avees! I'll telling on you! You're not allowed to start fires in the woods.
Child 2: Get me some more branches.
