Impéritif
An alcoholic beverage consumed just before an event, typically to ease anxiety or boredom and to make that event just about tolerable.
Tom: Hey are you going to the office Christmas Party? New boss says we have to.
Dave: Ah shit. Better get on the impéritifs then!
Andy: There's no way I'm volunteering at the old people's home sober.
Rick: Agreed. Fancy an impéritif or three?
