In the sport of Hockey, the "5 hole" refers to the space between the goalie's legs where one can shoot a puck. The number five is used because there is top left and right (1 and 2), lower left and right (3 and 4), and between the legs (5 hole).
He scored the winning goal by hitting the 5 hole.
