Bijay Goochastra's definitions
A pejorative name, mostly used in the Newfoundland region, with the same definition as the quasi-slur “Pajeet.” This racial epithet has its origins in the 1932 travel memoir 𝐻𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑜𝑜 𝐻𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑑𝑎𝑦 by J. R. Ackerley.
Slur-sayer: “I got a new neighbour down in Mount Pearl. Buddy’s come from away. And guess what?…I ‘erd he’s a fousty Avnish!”
Respondent: “Don’t be a rotted racist ’bout where ’y ’longs to. Who knit ya?!”
