A small blue collar fishing town on the coast of NJ. This is a gem of a location, quite but hip. You can clearly see the NY skyline from the Highlands Elementary School. There are lots of nice places to eat and a commuter ferry to downtown and midtown NY. Sadly, Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the town, and many residents still struggle 2 years on to rebuild their homes.
It's a place that capitalism has managed to pass by and a genuine seaside town devoid of resort villa's and tourism.

"Have you been to the 9/11 Memorial in Highland's Veterans Park?"
"Oh yeah, the eagle?"
"No that is in Atlantic Highlands. Highlands is way better".
