Going through something fierce

The expression “going through something fierce” refers to a person who is going through a rough patch, normally as a result of being overworked, burnt out, chronically unemployed and/or mentally unwell.
This term was popularized by UK Drag Race winner Krystal Versace who, in a series of youtube videos dedicated to evaluating the mugs of other drag queens, used this term to refer to the idea of a drag queen that, due to the stress and time constraints of being on tour and/or constantly booked, looks a bit rough in the face.
Ann: wait, your job is 10 hours a day and 6 days a week? Aren’t you like, exhausted?
Maria: yeah, I’m going through something fierce lol.
