(pronounced MUTE-tual) when you’re mutuals with somebody on twitter but barely interact anymore and their tweets stopped being relevant to what they were, but you don’t want to block or unfollow so you decide to just mute them.

“hey, you know X too? I see you’re mutuals”
“we used to. now he’s just a muteual”

when you are mutuals with someone on twitter but at one point you got too irritated with what they post regularly while you still need some follower so you just decide to mute instead of blocking them.

“hey, you know x too? I see you’re mutuals”
“yeah, we used to be. but now he’s just a muteual.”
