Treaty of Versailles

Was an excuse for every country to take the piss out of Germany and to put an end to World War One.
The treaty set certain requirements that Germany had to agree on and accomplish which were completely unfair to Germany but made sure Germany had no real choice but to agree. Germany got fucked over.
Germany: this "Treaty of Versailles" completely sucks!
Everyone: haha your so fucked!

Treaty of Tordesillas

The Portuguese colonized Brazil under the terms of the Treaty of Tordesillas, a 1494 agreement dividing the Americas between Spain and Portugal.

Treaty Of Versailles

When WW1 was over basically all the countries picked on Germany and made them sign the Treaty Of Versailles, making them take blame for the war.

If they didn't sign it they threatened to send the Allies to invade their country. The Germans felt this was rude because they didn't think the cause of the war was just their fault.
So they got screwed over pretty badly along with being badly in debt (especially to France).
- They lost colonies to other countries.
- Their military army shrunk to 100,000 men, no air force and only 6 battleships.

- They weren't allowed to join with german speaking Austria.
- They had to pay off a lot of debt (later fixed at £6600million), this included paying off with goods, such as letting the French mine coal in the Saarland.
- They weren't allowed to station troops in the Rhineland either.

Basically after WW1 no one liked them and they all decided to pick on them and make them pay for the war, even though they had no money.
Germany: This treaty of versailles is so unfair. It wasn't all our fault.

France, Belgian, America, Britian, Italy....: hahhhhahahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahahhahaha.

Treaty of Sevres

The treaty that was signed in 1920 which decided the fate of the now collapsing Ottoman Empire’s territories. It partitioned Anatolia between European colonial spheres of influence, newly created countries for ethnic minorities, and what remained of the fallen-from-glory Ottoman Empire. Was partially nullified by the Treaty of Lusanne later on, but generally succeeded in bringing down the Ottoman Empire and creating a modern and secular Turkish state.
The Treaty Of Sevres was the final treaty signed in regards to hostilities from the First World War, arguably bringing it to an end.

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

The treaty signed in 1848 that brought an end to the Mexican American War. This treaty liquidated the Mexican Empire, which was forced to give up 60% of its territory.

Texas, Alta California, and Arizona were ceded to America. America was also given partial control over a part of Panama, where it intended to build a canal.

British Honduras (now Belize) and Mosquito Coast (now parts of Nicaragua and Honduras) were ceded back to the British Empire, who had previously lost those territories to Mexico.

Parts of Northern Mexico were put into the sphere of influence of America and Napoleon's France.

Mexico recognized the independence of Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Yucatan.

Mexico recognized British sphere of influence over the Yucatan state, and recognized American influence over the remaining independent states.

Mexico was forced to demilitarize its northern provinces.

America, France, and Britain were permitted to have armies in Mexico city.
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo took down the Mexican Empire. Mexico later refused terms of the treaty and took up arms again, which ended the French and American spheres of influence over Mexico, recognized full Mexican sovereignty over Yucatan, and revoked all limitations on the Mexican military. The second treaty restored Mexican territorial integrity, whilst still leaving Central America dominated by the British and Americans.
