Kurt Cobain (February 20, 1967 – April 5, 1994)
was an american musician, best known as the lead singer,
guitarist and songwriter of grunge band Nirvana. Kurt is almost universally characterized as a tortured soul, the voice of alienated young people in America and beyond.

Throughout most of his life, Cobain suffered from chronic bronchitis and intense physical pain due to an undiagnosed chronic stomach condition. In the midst of self medicating his physical, mental and emotional angusih, Cobain used heroin sporadically for several years. By the end of 1990, his use developed into a full-fledged addiction.

On April 8, 1994, Cobain's body was discovered at his Lake Washington home at the age of 27. (Cobain's body had been lying there for days.) Cobain was known to be suicidal. And, although Cobain's death was officially ruled as suicide, certain aspects about his death (inconclusive evidence) have led to speculation that his death was homicide and many people beleive he was murdered by wife, Courtney Love. His so called suicide note was written to Boddah, his imaginary friend.

Kurt was an introspective and highly empathic person, he struggled with depression, physical pain and the commercial success of Nirvana until the end.

The Beatles were an early and important musical influence on Cobain. Cobain expressed a particular fondness for John Lennon. Lennon's song "In my Life" was played at Cobain's funeral.
“Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are”

"Humans are dumb. Ashamed to be a human."

"Punk is musical freedom. It's saying, doing and playing what you want. In Webster's terms, 'nirvana' means freedom from pain, suffering and the external world, and that's pretty close to my definition of Punk Rock."

“If you die you're completely happy and your soul somewhere lives on. I'm not afraid of dying. Total peace after death, becoming someone else is the best hope I've got.”

"Peace, Love, Empathy."

Just pointing out some things about Kurt's death that haven't really been brought up (at least not as much).

I'm not gonna write down the many, many facts and details contributing to the murder theory. Just gonna name some things that have come to mind.

1. Kurt's sense of humor: Kurt had a very dark sense of humor. This is evident in songs like "I Hate Myself and Want To Die." While Kurt brought up suicide a good deal, he wasn't actually a suicidal guy who hated life. He mentioned in the "About A Son" interviews that he often looked depressed and angry when in fact he was in a good mood. This is just his natural expression. He liked to have fun, and if you watch videotapes of him with the band, you can see he's obviously a very humorous, light-hearted person, not the depressed, morose person he is often made out to be.

2. Kurt's relationship with Courtney: Kurt was very much in love with Courtney and defended her early on in the relationship. But as time went on, things began to change. Kurt, who was Bipolar, began to form a tumultuous love/hate relationship with her. He was on the verge of divorcing her, prior to his suicide (which would have lost Courtney a lot of his money).

3. Kurt's songwriting: I believe that two of his songs have messages singling out or referring to his broken relationship with Courtney. First, in "All Apologies" he mentions the lines "married/buried" in the chorus. All Apologies itself could be a song denoting his perceived failure in their relationship, perhaps his way of saying he feels its not working out. Kurt didn't like to express his thoughts and emotions upfront, and they often seeped into his songwriting and performances. Secondly, refer to the lyrics in "You Know You're Right," the last song Kurt wrote, prior to his death. The lyrics include "never speak a word again/I will crawl away for good"; this could reference his plan to divorce her. "No thought was put into this/I always knew it would come to this" could reference his increasing wish to leave the marriage.

More lines from the song:

- "I'm so warm and calm inside/ I no longer have to hide" Perhaps he felt happy of his plans to retire from music, and he'd no longer have to hide the fact that he hated performing (mentioned in the "suicide" note)

- "Nothing really bothers her/ she just wants to love herself" Again referencing the chaos of their relationship

- "I will move away from here/ you won't ever have to fear" Again, expresses his desire to leave Courtney and the music business.

"You know you're right" Perhaps Kurt is talking to himself with these lines, reassuring himself that his plans are the right ones. Or, possibly, a sarcastic attack at Courtney.

It seems a little suspicious that Courtney so vehemently wanted this song to NOT be released after Kurt's death. She performed a live version of the song, changing some of the lyrics as well. It seems Courtney had something to hide about this song....

4. Drug use: Many people have blamed Kurt's death on his drug use. However, despite his use, he was known for being anti-drugs. He stated this in the "About A Son" interviews. Kurt smoked marijuana recreationally, but only used heroin as a means of alleviating the pain of his stomach condition, caused by scoliosis.

5. Courtney's relationship with Billy Corgan: Before dating Kurt, Courtney had a relationship with Smashing Pumpkin's frontman Billy Corgan. While the details of speculation that Courtney cheated on Kurt with Billy when she dated him isn't fully known, this could possibly have caused a riff in the Kurt/Courtney relationship (also, it is possible that Billy was a factor in Courtney's possible desire to kill Kurt). Courtney and Billy have recently been seen together.

These are just a few lesser known opinions (strictly opinions and theories - the truth is yet fully known) of mine. I hope they've offered insight.

it is said that kurt cobain died of his own hand, apparently he held a gun to his head and pulled the trigger....thats not true!
there is far mre evidence to suggest that he was murdered!
1.he had made plans to meet his mum and other relatives to make up with them a week after his death..
2.the suicide note was NOT in his writing
3.he was sooo druged up, that he would have been dead or knocked out in seconds...definetly not enough time to neatly pack away all his drugs write a suicide note and hold a gun to his head and shoot himself!
4.when courtney love imployed ppl to go in search of kurt she told them not to look in the greenhouse (that is were kust supposively killed himself)
5.ppl who talked to kurt very shortly before his death said he was defnitely not suicidel and was looking forward to the future
6.he was going to divorse courney (his wife) and change his will so she couldnt get any of his money, he had an appointment to change his will a couple of days l8r.
7.the greenhouse he was found in was locked from the outside!!

Kurt Cobain was a reflection of all of us. He exists in the things we do openly or shunned because we want to conform to the norms of society. He brought out in all of us a conscience that is extremely hard to find be it in music or life. Kurt Cobain will always be remembered for being an honest, genuine and true artist, some one who aimed for perfection but was frustrated with things that he could not change no matter how hard he tried. If anything we should all learn and respect him for who he was more than what he did.
My need to do is a pure as Kurt Cobain.

Kurt Cobain was the singer and guitarist for 90's icon band Nirvana which released three studio albums, Bleach (1989), Nevermind (1991) and In Utero (1993). Heavy heroin addict and fairly average guitarist, however his wailing, husky voice and highly poetic and symbolic lyrics defined Nirvana as the definitive 'grunge' band of the 90's, which despite what many people believe they did NOT invent, grunge having its roots back in 80's hardcore punk, and the term itself being coined by Green River and later Mudhoney frontman Mark Arm, who described the style as "pure grunge, pure shit".

Cobain was underweight and of below average height (5'7 tall and 130 pounds), and (usually) wore his hair long with a 'designer stubble' style of beard. His hair however was also dyed numerous exotic colours, such as bright red and blue, at various times.

It can be argued that part of Cobain's continuing legacy is his rough good looks and 'everyman' quality. He was an outspoken critic of homophobia, sexism, racism etc., even going as far as to say "If you are either a racist, sexist, or in any other way an asshole, don't buy our albums. I don't want your money. Don't love me because I hate you."

Kurt Cobain died after battling lifelong depression on April 4th, 1994 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was 27. His suicide note was addressed to "Boddah", an imaginary childhood friend his parents invented for him to help him cope with his uncle being drafted during the Vietnam War.

Kurt Cobain was the leader, singer, guiterist, and songwritter for Nirvana. He inspired millions of teens and spoke to our souls. He had a true talent and it was a huge loss when he was murdered so young in life.
Kurt Cobain was a musical genius.

Kurt Cobain was born February 20, 1967, to his father, (an auto mechanic,) and his mother, (a cocktail waitress.) He was born in the town of Hoquaim, a small town only 140 kilometers from Seattle. The Cobain's then moved to Aberdeen, WA. Kurt's parents divorced when he was a child and with his parents divorce came feelings of depression, anti-sociality, and angst. Throughout his school years, Kurt was precieved as an outsider by his classmates and often distanced himself from them. In 1986, Nirvana was formed after a slew of failed bands were dead. Nirvana consisted of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and numerous drummers inclulding Chad Channing and his permanent replacement Dave Grohl. In 1989, Nirvana recorded it's first album, intitled Bleach, for the local label, Sup Pop Records. In 1991, The David Geffen company bought out Nirvana's contract, and the band was signed to Geffen Records. Two and a half years after the release of their first album, Bleach, Nirvana released thier second album, and their most popular, Nevermind. It left a lasting impression on the mainstream music scene. To it's listeners, Nirvana was a breath of fresh air, pulling itself aside from the then stale pop music scene. Nevermind brought in over $550 million dollars, leaving Nirvana "overnight millionares." It was clear that Kurt did not enjoy the fame and publicity and was not going to cope well with their newly acclaimed Rock and Roll lifestyle. Cobian began to use heroin in the early 90's, he claimed to use Herion to calm the pain of his extremely painful stomach disease, that to this day, is unclassified. In 1992, Nirvana released Incesticide and Kurt married the allready pregnant Courtney Love, (their daughter Frances Bean Cobain was born in 1993.) In 1993, Nirvana released In Utero, their most emotional and meaningful album to date. Nirvana later filmed Unplugged for MTV. It was an all acoustic preformance, that inclulded some of Nirvana's smash hits, but most of their lesser known songs, as well as some covers of Nirvana's favorite bands. Unplugged was the last live preformance that Nirvana had before Kurt Cobain died in 1994. Many speculate that Kurts death was suicide, other's blame his wife, Courtney Love, for his murder. Either way, his fans will remember him forever. His music will never die.
Kurt Cobain, in my oppinion is one of the most talented songwriters in music history. His voice is infectious and completely unique. I know that he will never be forgotten.
