Awe inspiring and then awe instilling
A better version of intoxicating. En vivir, to give life to. Intoxify is to have something "give you life" by way of its presence, personality, abilities, gifts, actions, etc.
Ex: Ice cubes melting in a glass of water, and periodically making a clinking noise against the glass that lets you know subtle changes are happening; this effect can have the affect of "intoxifying" someone--mostly working through awe.

When someone who doesn't drink wants to talk about someone who is drunk, but doesn't know that the actual word is intoxicated.
